Creating Media (Mobile)

This article walks you through creating content with the Recording Screen on the Cyrano mobile app.

What Can I Create from the Recording Screen?

At the bottom of the screen, notice there are four methods of content creation: Video, Audio, Library, and Link.

Record Video

The default method records video and audio. Simply tap the red button and record!

Record Audio

Tap the Audio tab to create an audio-only message. The app will display your Cyrano profile picture for the duration of the recording.

Upload from Library

The Library tab will allow you to upload a video from your device’s personal video library. Allow Cyrano to access your personal video library, then browse and select which videos you’d like to upload.

Upload from URL Link

The Link tab lets you insert URL links to videos from external websites. These videos can then be added to your Cyrano programs.

What Else Can I Do on the Recording Screen?

There are a few more icons on the screen that can help you create your content:

Create a Script

Begin creating a script by tapping to the right of the recording button. Type in this window to create notes, an outline, or a full transcript for your video.

The size of the script text can be adjusted by tapping . When you’re happy with your script, tap Done. Your script will be displayed on the screen while you are recording.

If your script overflows, use your finger to scroll through it. If you’d like to edit your script, be sure your device is in portrait mode and not landscape.

Camera Options

Tap to switch between the front and back-facing camera. We recommend the front-facing camera so you can see yourself and your script on screen during recording.

Settings

If your device doesn’t have enough storage to hold a video, you can still record! Tap in the top right corner of the screen and turn on Direct Upload. This will bypass your device’s memory to upload your recording directly to the Cyrano servers.

Ready to Record

Now that you’re familiar with the Recording Screen, it’s time to record your content! Cyrano highly recommends recording in landscape mode so your videos fill play pages and to make Pro Edits easier. Tap the red record button. A timestamp will appear at the top of the screen, letting you know how long your clip is. End the clip by tapping the red record button again.

When you’re finished recording, tap Save Media to add your recording to your media grid or tap Program to send out your recording as a completed video. (Check out our articles about Accessing Media and Creating Programs)
